Radio Trailer Info

In our small group we made a radio trailer for a film we had wrote some narrative ideas for, our Film Human Error was based around a time manipulation brief, we chose to focus on time travel and had the idea of an inventor who goes to the future and finds a robot then comes back, and invents the robot becoming Rich and famous but the future ends up as an apocalyptic world where robots rule the earth so they must go back and fix it.

To produce the trailer we used garage band. we used the prerecorded music loops and then recorded some dialogue to accompany it.

Online Reviews or TV, Magazines and Newspapers?

I think that online reviewing is very important as it allows members of the public who arent recogniseed critics or journalists to share there views and it also allows film fans to discuss and compare there views rather than just seeing one view.

I personally trust online reviews more as they are made by other 'normal' film fans rather than a critic and I can relate with there opinions more. In my experince I have decided what films to watch based on reviews from friends and the internet.

Notes on my review of 'plastic bag'

I chose to use the poster as i thought it would help introduce readers to the film and would also show its film festival nominations putting accross its success. i also scose to use one of the beutiful shots from the film to show its cinematic beauty.

Review of Plastic Bag

The film 'Plastic Bag' appears simple at first but, becomes a powerful and emotional film with strong messages. The enchanting voice of Werner Herzog gives the main focus of the film, which is a suprisingly endering Plastic Bag, real heart and draws the audience into the world of this character who is 'used' and cast away by those he cared for in a world that he does not understand. Herzogs Narration also fits perfectly as his bleak world view matches the pointless journey that this film charts. The Film shows the 'life' of an inanimate object this adds depth to the message and enviromental message baing put accross by this film.

A review from BBC by Nev Pierce

A crusades epic that's easy on the eye but hard on the backside, Kingdom Of Heaven is disappointing. Doing his best to sound all grown up, Orlando Bloom plays Balian, a French blacksmith who's reunited with his long-lost noble father (Liam Neeson) and journeys to Jerusalem for political intrigue, the odd battle and endless, endless talking. From Gladiator director Ridley Scott, it has little of that picture's passion or emotion. In fact it feels spectacularly empty.

Bloom is a talented actor too often dismissed as just a pretty face, but here he's lumbered with a drab, occasionally idiotic character and 'inspirational' speeches that make Clive Owen's leaden pep talks in King Arthur sound like Shakespeare. Follow him into battle? You wouldn't follow him into Woolworths.

"YOU NEVER FEEL ANYTHING'S AT STAKE"

Neeson is terrific and the film's at its best when he's to the fore - as in the first, frantic fight scene, with its whipcrack edits and convincing brutality. Jeremy Irons impresses, too, as an advisor to Jerusalem's leper king (Edward Norton, under an iron mask). But an intriguing exploration of the Holy Land's power struggle between Christian and Muslim forces is muddled by a panto villain (Marton Csokas, the only 'French' character to actually have a vaguely French accent), a damp love story (with Evan Green's limp princess) and a third act so predictable, it's entirely pointless.

For all the spectacle, you never feel anything's at stake - and Balian's in-your-face "everyone is equal" moralising is immensely tedious. Part history lesson, part lecture, all dull, Kingdom Of Heaven is purgatory.

This review is very harsh in my opinion but it also makes some good comments about the film. I also think it is a good review. I think the reviewers expectations may have been raised by the director Ridley Scott and his work on the epic 'Gladiator' the stars Liam Neeson and Orlando Bloom may have also raised expectations but i dont think they were as influential as the director.

Film Evaluation

Using Editing rather than camera movement meant that we would have more control over the viewing experience, also it gave the film a faster pace this helps develop the crime thriller genre, the camera work was not always steady but i think this also added to the thriller genre.
The narrative was not especially clear but i think the general scenario was shown.
We used a gun from the drama department as a prop, we selected the graveyard as a location to add to the mood of the film.

We planned certain shots such as when ahmed arrive in the graveyard he is framed by railings which reflected how rob is trapped and ahmed breaks this.

Mini film task

Our first task was to produce a small 30 second clip, following a breif. I worked in a small group with Ahmed, Rob and Liam
we had to include the following dialouge:
Character 1- Just do it
Character 2- I can't
Character 1- Just do it
(pause..)
I cant wait for you to do it
We also had to include the following devices
-Shot reverse shot
-match on action

Our film was a Crime Thriller. Apart from poor acting talent the film is quite good we met all the requirements of the brief and used all the devices in the breif. our film sees Ahmed rushing to save Rob who is being held at gunpoint by Character 1 (Liam) and character 2 (Me).

I have uploaded the film above.
